Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)can be configured with Documentum for authentication purpose. Now, it’s upto your wnvironment where Documentum sits. LDAP can work with Windows Active Directory or Sun’s iPlanet. There are many others Directory servers as well.

When you set up sync of users and groups, you can mark if it is going to be full sync or on an incremental basis. From LDAP configuration side, you need to include User Mapping, Group Mapping and different properties to Map. Properties mapping may include user_name,user_os_name etc.

You can find a Job/Method called dm_LDAPSynchronisaiton when you look for how this set up works. dm_LDAPSynchronisation job can be set in specific interval say daily, with a trace level as per your requirement and it ensures your Users/Groups are synched and is uptodate. As a general practice, you can monitor the job reports in order to ensure that the job runs as per schedule. If you see errors, try to troubleshoot it if you are able to or talk to your server team who looks after LDAP issues if it is on their side.
